Stukes stuns Tigers with last-second three

NCAA Basketball Betting Lines

01/28/2007 - Athens, GA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Levi Stukes drained the game-winning three with .6 seconds on the clock, as the Georgia Bulldogs bested the 21st-ranked LSU Tigers at Stegeman Coliseum.

Stukes finished with 16 points and Takais Brown had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs (13-6, 5-2 SEC), who have won two in a row and five of their last six contests.

Glen Davis had 18 points, 14 rebounds and six assists and Terry Martin added 16 points for the Tigers (13-7, 2-4), who have lost three straight.

Darnell Lazare's steal and assist to Magnum Rolle for the layup put the Tigers ahead 49-43, which was the biggest lead for either team in the second half, but Georgia countered with threes from Mike Mercer and Billy Humphrey to tie the game at 49 with nearly seven minutes to play.

Lazare's layup put LSU in front 54-52, but Mercer was there to collect the offensive rebound on Sundiata Gaines' miss and slammed it in, evening the score at 54 with 2:22 to play.

With the clock ticking down Gaines had the ball and dished it off to Stukes at the last second as the Tigers defense collapsed to the ball. Stukes was left open for the trey and he sank it for the win.

The Tigers opened up the game on a 13-2 run, capped by Davis' layup, and extended the lead to 21-9 on Dameon Mason's jumper.

The Bulldogs responded with a 14-3 streak, highlighted by treys from Terrance Woodbury and Humphrey, cutting the deficit to 24-23.

Brown's layup evened the score at 27, but LSU took a 32-39 lead into the locker room.

Super Bowl XLIV Odds

Super Bowl XLIII isn't even a week old yet and oddsmakers have already released Super Bowl XLIV odds.

Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers winning Super Bowl 43, the New England Patriots are 8/1 favorites to win Super Bowl 44.

Bet Super Bowl XLIV Future Odds

With their 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII, the Steelers became the latest NFL champion. But believe it or not, oddsmakers from online sports book MySportsbook.com don't have the Steelers the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIV next season.

That honor belongs to the New England Patriots, who are 8/1 favorites to win despite not even qualify for the postseason in 2008. The Pats also have a major decision to make regarding what to do with Matt Cassel, who played well in Tom Brady's (knee surgery) absence last year but is also a free agent this offseason.

Ironically, the Steelers aren't even oddsmakers second choice to win Super Bowl 44, as the Dallas Cowboys are listed right behind the Patriots at 9/1 despite not making the playoffs themselves. Clearly oddsmakers think the public will hop back on the Cowboys' bandwagon considering the immense talent they have and the opening of a brand new stadium.

After Dallas, then comes Pittsburgh at 10/1, but they share those odds with the New York Giants, who won Super Bowl XLII. The Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers round out the top six teams at 12/1, while the Baltimore Ravens (14/1), Tennessee Titans (16/1), Carolina Panthers (18/1) and Philadelphia Eagles (18/1) complete the top 10.

The NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals got no love from oddsmakers as they were established as a 30/1 long shot to win next year's Super Bowl. They share those same odds with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers – two teams that didn't even qualify for the postseason. Other long shots are the Kansas City Chiefs (100/1), Detroit Lions (100/1), St. Louis Rams (75/1) and Oakland Raiders (75/1).

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds

With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.

Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season.  Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.

This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy.  A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
